June 29,20223 Hello AHHA Volunteers and Supporters, Happy Summer and Pride Month in Humboldt and every where! The forecast for the next several days is good weather-wise and full with many potential engagements. We encourage you to join us at the AHHA General Assembly (GA) this Saturday. You can attend either in person or via zoom. We want to introduce you to our new board members Jonah and Crystal. We are very happy to have their expertise and creativity applied to AHHA initiatives and endeavors! Soon you will see their photos and bios up our website. Passcode: 642066 We want to let everyone know that our Community BBQ to be held in Arcata at Carlson Park on June 24th had to be canceled due to several factors. We will be sure to let folks know well in advance when we plan to do another one. We are still asking for folks who want to help with our projects to sign up as volunteers. We need those who want to help AHHA with social media posts and other communications as well as office support and outreach services. Application can be found online at AHHA’s website. The first Community Outreach Meal Effort (COME- join us! for BBQ) on April 29th at the Amphitheater in Halvorsen Park in support of our unhoused neighbors in Eureka was a great success! We have a short video/slide show to share and can share it on Saturday at the GA. This Saturday, July 1, at the General Assembly (GA) we’ll
discuss more on alternatives to help people get into safe spaces, and recent research reports on California Homelessness: Largest Study in Decades and Toward a New Understanding: The California Statewide Study of People Experiencing Homelessness (CAESPH and CAESPH Executive Summary). Links to the these are included at the end of this email. Hope you can join us! We’ll also hear from LGBTQI2+ community members about Pride Month and what we can do to support unhoused community members, especially our youth. We hope to see you to share this GA forum and build community and capacity to respond to solutions. All are welcome!

We are encouraging folks who want to volunteer to assist with our events or see our affordable housing alternatives implemented to apply now. Consider applying for a board position or join in the GAs and committee work. You will meet some awesome folks and be able to co-create with other passionate and talented community members. AHHA is nearly an all-volunteer organization.
