AHHA is celebrating more than TEN YEARS of community service to our County. We are celebrating all year! As we move deeper into 2024, we want to thank everyone for making this transition into our 10th anniversary year one filled with confidence and support. The Shower Care-A-Van has made a tremendous difference in the lives of those living without a home in our community. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the hardworking volunteers who have helped us get this far. AHHA is committed to continuing our services and mission, but we need your support to make it happen. We need your time, ideas, voice, and work to make AHHA a success.
What can you do? We would love for you to get involved! Come to AHHA's general assembly on Saturday, April 6th (and every first Saturday), at the Labor Temple (Eureka, 840 E Street). We have a meal (free and provided by volunteers) and meet from noon to 2:00 p.m. to discuss our initiatives and our programs. Join us in building and planning the organization's future.
Volunteering is another great way to help! We need at least nine volunteers for each shower event to take place. We are especially looking for volunteers for our Eureka location. See below for the calendar of showers and events that you can sign up for. SPECIAL EVENT Friday and Saturday July 12th - 13th - California CareForce is bringing a FREE dental Clinic to Humboldt/Eureka. The clinic is for anyone who has few resources, specifically our unhoused community. This will be happening at the Adorni Center (1011 Waterfront Dr, Eureka, CA 95501), just down from where we usually do showers. The City of Eureka has given us permission to operate the shower Care-A-Van in the parking lot diagonally across Waterfront Drive from the Adorni Center Building. We will only be operating our showers the 12th (one day). We will have more info as we get closer to the event. Please consider volunteering for this very wonderful opportunity for AHHA to help people access services they otherwise would not get or take advantage of. Specific times for operations on these days will be determined soon. Most likely they will be similar to our Eureka times now.
There are many behind-the-scenes activities that make AHHA and the Shower Care-a-Van possible. These include restocking, acquiring and sorting donations, managing social media, handling office work, grant writing, and networking. The list goes on! We need a village to help us with these tasks. Join us and become part of our village.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, or any other activities, please email us your full name and details. Please sign up early and be sure to let Nezzie know at least a few days in advance, ideally longer if you cannot make it we can find a replacement volunteer. Another way to support AHHA is by rounding up at the Co-Op. All round-ups (the change from rounding up to the nearest dollar) in the month of April go to AHHA! See below for flyer.
