Important News Update

Hello AHHA Community!

The Community Conversation that was planned for this Saturday, December 13th from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. has been rescheduled for the second Saturday in January 2026. This will be a monthly meeting to hold space for local voices and ideas for applied solutions to our lack of affordable housing, high rents, and economic need for innovative jobs. We look forward to building capacity and coalition with real world energy and expertise. Look for The Blast to remind you in early January.

Thank you to all the Co-op Members who voted for AHHA in the Seeds for Change Round-Up Program! AHHA has been chosen as one of the Top 5 picks. We’ll have the month of May to encourage you all to round up when shopping at the Co-op, so keep an eye out for Reminder Blasts beginning in March and going throughout May. 

Another big thank you to all AHHA supporters who contributed to Giving Tuesday! Your generous donations go a long way in supporting the mission of AHHA and creating networks of care for community members who are currently unhoused and/or living with extremely limited resources.

And as a final reminder, AHHA along with our partners at HACHR, Our Space, and Nowhere2Go Humboldt, will be holding two candlelight vigils for Homeless Person’s Remembrance Day. The first event will be on Friday, December 19th from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on the Arcata Plaza, while the second event will be on Sunday, December 21st from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Old Town Gazebo in Eureka. Join us in memorializing individuals who have died while unsheltered as we share space with one another during the darkest and coldest time of the year. We gather to remember those we have lost, share in a space to grieve, and to remind ourselves that our community is stronger than any ordinance a city can create and any sweeps they might do. Warm food and drinks will be available and a donation drive will be accepting gently used, weather appropriate clothes for HACHR’s Anything Warm Drive.

A giant community partner in the ongoing struggles against hunger and homelessness is Humboldt County’s food bank, Food for People. While many of our community’s families are facing the extreme challenge of dwindling food resources, Food for People has been consistently stepping up and offering additional access and food supplies for Humboldt community members in need. Uplift Eureka Community Resource Center created a food resource list here! based on FFP scheduling and identification of other resources making the info easily accessible. Please share with anyone who might be experiencing food insecurity.

It’s that time of year again! We’ve officially kicked off our end of year donor drive. There are many ways to help! Direct financial support is essential to continue our services. We are a community-driven and community-centered initiative and AHHA relies on your support. AHHA is the people in the communities of Humboldt who provide as well as use our services. We have so much gratitude for your support. We always need volunteers and clothing, specifically men’s pants and shoes! We’d like to put a special request out there for anyone who might be a private landowner, or know of a private landowner, who would be interested in entering into a trial program with AHHA and our partners! We know this is the time of year when many organizations are seeking funding resources – as you decide where to give what you can, we hope you’ll keep AHHA in mind. Click here to donate!
