Dear Wonderful Volunteers and Supporters, First off, we would like to welcome our new volunteer Nayeli Ramirez, a Service Learning Student, pursuing a degree in Criminology and Social Justice at Cal Poly Humboldt. She will be with AHHA for the semester and working on our communications and public announcements. Graduate student Aaron Perez is also joining us this fall. He is pursuing Sociology with a background working on nonprofit projects. Quintessential volunteer Tory Singer has been helping with tech, showers, and other outreach for 1 year. We are quite fortunate to have each of them lending their time and talents to AHHA endeavors. For our next General Assembly (GA) meeting on October 7th where we will cover two main topics: showers and the village model. Social and snack time is from 11:30 AM to Noon and the General Assembly is from 12-2 PM. Restarting the Care-A-Van showers will be our main focus for the rest of the year along with a capital campaign to raise additional funds to support the showers and associated services. We hope to start the showers by November and would really appreciate your input and idea for what will work for all. Please join us! For the village model, we will be laying out a footprint of what is essential and seeking your input, comments and suggestions for what is desirable and possible for a village layout and management. North Country Fair (NCF) last weekend on Sept 16 & 17 was a great success. We had a display of our tiny-home models and brochures on what we do, what resources are available to the unhoused, and volunteer applications. Interacting with the community was such a pleasure.
